Alice - your everyday summer tee knitting pattern

Alice is the Plant Fiber Sister design to the Anna Tee. She's designed to stay in place with those slippery warm weather fibers, so you can enjoy a perfectly fit knit tee all year round.

The Alice Tee is the perfect cotton t-shirt that will replace your fast fashion tees. You know, the ones that fall out of shape and look terrible after three washes. Alice is designed with set-in sleeves for a tailored fit and a graceful scoop neck that promises not to show your bra straps. Worked from the top down, seamlessly, you can easily modify this pattern to your liking.

Construction

Alice is worked top down in the round. The upper body is worked flat in rows, and then joined to work in the round after all neck and underarm sts have been cast on. German Short Rows are used to shape the sleeve caps and optional bust darts.

Your best fit

Choose the size closest to your actual upper chest measurement: 31 (34.25, 37.5, 40.75) [44, 47.25, 50.5] (53.75, 57, 59.25, 61.5) inches / 78.5 (87, 95.5, 103.5) [112, 120, 128.5] (136.5, 145, 150.5, 156) cm.

Upper chest is measured above the full bust, at an angle close to diagonal beneath the underarms, and straight across the back.

Alice is designed to fit with approximately 2 inches / 5 cm of positive ease at the fullest part of your bust.

If you need additional room for the bust, working the optional short row shaping will give you the best fit in the shoulders and armholes, while still making room for your chest. Short rows add length to the front only of the garment, so that the hem does not rise in the front.

Elizabeth is wearing size 2 with 2 inches / 5 cm of positive ease at the full bust. Her upper chest is 34 inches / 85 cm.

Yarn

Sample shown in LeRoo Cotton's Organic Cotton Fingering

100% organic cotton ; 440 yds / 403 m per 100 g skein. This is a plied fingering weight yarn. The final fabric, knit at an open gauge, is flowy with lots of drape.

Yardage (shown in Naïve): 926 (1050, 1174, 1297) [1421, 1544, 1668] (1791, 1915, 2038, 2162) yds / 845 (960, 1074, 1186) [1299, 1412, 1525] (1638, 1751, 1864, 1977) m; 3 (3, 3, 3) [4, 4, 4] (5, 5, 5, 5) skeins.

For optional bust darts, you will need an additional 19 - 94 yds / 18 - 86 m.

Gauge

30 sts and 44 rows over 4 inches / 10 cm in stockinette stitch (both flat and in the round).
